The identification of the motorcyclist who died in a collision at U.S. 24 Frontage Road and West Cimarron Street, close to America the Beautiful Park, on Saturday, October 5, was made public by the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD). Elijah Stephens, age 26, was recognized as the man.
Officers arrived on the scene at approximately 8:45 p.m. and discovered a collision between a car and a motorbike, according to CSPD. After being taken to the hospital, the biker passed away from his wounds. When the Major Crash Team arrived, they found that the vehicle had been heading west and was turning south on Highway 24 Frontage Road.
The motorcycle, which was speeding east on Cimarron, collided with the car in the right front corner as it was turning left. The motorcycle threw Stephens off. According to CSPD, speed and drinking are being investigated as potential contributing factors. On Monday, October 7, Stephens was identified by the coroner.
