Stanislaus Regional 911 got a call at around 9:42 AM on October 24, 2024, asking for a welfare check at a Modesto home on Citrus Drive. A female resident had not arrived for work, which was unusual for her, according to the caller. A neighbour also reported that they hadn’t seen the woman in a few days. After breaking into the house, officers discovered a male 17-year-old who had been shot.
At the scene, he was declared dead. Officers found the female occupant, Sierra Morgan, 46, of Modesto, California, dead from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound nearby. They found a firearm. Although the 17-year-old man’s identity is being kept under wraps, it has been established that he is Sierra’s son. At the time of the incident, the house was empty of any other residents.
This case is being investigated as a murder-suicide by the Modesto Police Department. Investigators are trying to figure out what caused this terrible incident, but they don’t think there are any unidentified suspects.
