Brent Berkeley, a resident of Plymouth, Massachusetts, and a beloved father and son has tragically passed away. He was announced dead in a social media post that read “I feel sick and can’t comprehend that someone acted so quickly and irrationally and made such a permanent, violent decision. Brent didn’t deserve this. His family and children didn’t deserve this. This is one of the worst kinds of pain and loss a family can experience.”

Following what appeared to be a road rage incident, a 41-year-old man was shot and murdered Friday night in downtown Plymouth close to multiple eateries. A man who is 23 years old has been arrested. At approximately 5:45 p.m., Plymouth police reported receiving 911 reports concerning a shooting that occurred in the public parking lot on Middle Street. David Jerome of Plymouth was detained after the first officer on the scene confronted the suspect.
After Jerome allegedly shot Brent Berkeley, 41, of Plymouth, witnesses claim to have seen him trying to assist him. After being brought to Plymouth’s Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital, Berkeley passed away. According to Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz, the preliminary investigation revealed that Berekely, who was driving the Jeep SUV, and Jerome, who was driving the Toyota RAV4, had a small auto accident that resulted in “a physical interaction” prior to the shooting.
Jerome’s 18-month-old son was in the backseat of his car when the incident occurred, according to the inquiry. Despite having a valid firearms license, Jerome’s license has been suspended. Among other things, he faces charges of murder and reckless endangerment of a child. On Monday, he will appear in court. The event is still being looked at by police.
