Vanderbilt University student Adam Nimaga of Nashville, Tennessee has sadly passed away. He died by suicide. The Metro Nashville Police Department received a call at 6:44 a.m. CDT reporting a corpse at 2401 Highland Avenue, the location of the 25th Avenue Parking Garage. Students walking to class were met with a disturbing sight, as they noticed the body partially covered by a yellow tarp outside the facility.
Upon arriving at the scene, police officers promptly closed off access to the area, launching an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death. As of 1 p.m. CDT, there had been no official notification to students regarding the situation, and the university had not yet issued a comment to local media outlet The Hustler.

It wasn’t until 3:01 p.m. CDT that an email from Student Affairs was sent to the student body. Signed by G.L. Black, Vice Provost for Student Affairs and Dean of Students, the message informed students of the tragic passing of an undergraduate student. In the email, Black extended condolences to the friends and family of the deceased, honoring their memory and urging students to seek support if needed.
The university highlighted the availability of mental health resources, encouraging those who may be struggling to reach out to the University Counseling Center at (615) 322-2571 or to utilize their Crisis Text Line by texting VANDY to 741741.
