Bay Bridge Accident Today:-Â The California Highway Patrol (CHP) issued a severe traffic alert early Monday evening due to police activity that temporarily closed all westbound lanes of the Bay Bridge.
The incident, reported by authorities, occurred just before 6 p.m. on westbound I-80, west of the Treasure Island Road exit in San Francisco. The CHP indicated that all lanes were blocked, but after approximately 15 minutes, the San Francisco office reported the situation had been resolved.
According to authorities, the incident involved a person in crisis who was successfully talked down, allowing the traffic to resume shortly after. Officials did not specify whether the individual was taken into custody following the incident.
Notably, earlier reports indicated slow traffic in the same area due to a disabled vehicle blocking the fourth lane from the left around 4:30 p.m., though the CHP clarified that this earlier obstruction was unrelated to the later police activity. Motorists were advised to anticipate lingering delays and consider alternate routes to bypass the area.
