A man who was killed in a collision involving multiple vehicles that occurred late on Tuesday night on the Mass Pike has been identified as a citizen of Kentucky, according to the authorities. Following the collision that occurred at 11:40 p.m. in the westbound direction near mile marker 105, David Fencl, 48, from Calvert City, Kentucky, was pronounced dead, according to the Massachusetts State Police and the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.

It was claimed by state police that there were three automobiles engaged in the collision; however, according to Westborough Fire Chief Patrick Purcell, there were really four vehicles involved: a tractor-trailer, a pickup truck, and two sedans. Both of the individuals were unable to escape from their vehicles. A total of six individuals, including the individual who ultimately passed away, were sent to various hospitals.
Along with the assistance of firefighters from Westborough and Hopkinton, there were six ambulances that were utilized at the scene. In a statement released on Friday, state police stated that the five other individuals involved had sustained minor injuries; however, Fencl passed away after being transported to a nearby hospital. According to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, no one has been charged with any crime.
An investigation into the collision is still being conducted by the collision analysis and reconstruction unit of the state police as well as state police detectives who are attached to the District Attorney’s Office.
