One motorist was killed in a two-vehicle collision in Lebanon on Friday night, and the incident is being investigated. According to a news release from the York County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the scene of a significant two-vehicle collision at approximately 6 p.m. on Long Swamp Road and Lord Road. According to the preliminary investigation, a 2021 Mazda A6 driven south on Long Swamp Road by Daniel Dempsey, 39, of Lebanon, crossed into the other lane and collided head-on with a 2021 Dodge 1500 driven by William Long, 22, of South Berwick.
At the scene, Dempsey was declared deceased. According to the sheriff’s office, his passenger, 44-year-old Christina Gagnon of Berwick, was taken to Portsmouth Regional Hospital after suffering severe injuries that were deemed non-life-threatening. According to reports, Long and his companion, 20-year-old Berwick resident Jenna Dixon, were taken to Wentworth Douglas Hospital with minor injuries.
According to the sheriff’s office, the crash is thought to have been caused by alcohol, speed, and reckless driving. According to the announcement, both cars were hauled from the site after seeming to be totaled. The crash is being reconstructed by the York Police Department.
