M5 Suicide, Man jump off M5 bridge to death in Gloucestershire

A significant emergency reaction was prompted this morning, Saturday, November 2, when the body of a man was discovered on the M5 in Gloucestershire. A man fell from an overpass onto the road below, prompting police to call for witnesses. A body was discovered on the northbound carriageway, close to Tewkesbury, and police were summoned to the scene shortly after 6:05 a.m. The M5 has been closed in both directions between junctions 8 and 10 for more than eight hours as of the time of reporting.

According to authorities, a man in his 30s fell onto the freeway from an overpass. Tragically, he was declared deceased at the spot. There is no suspicion that his death was suspicious. Specially trained officers are assisting his nearest of kin, who have been informed. The identity of the person has not been made public at the time of this report.

Drivers have been alerted to the closure and lengthy delays by National Highways. According to the statement, a Gloucestershire Police-led incident has caused the M5 in Gloucestershire to be closed in both directions between J9 (Tewkesbury) and J8 (Strensham). Gloucestershire Police are now urging anyone who was on the M5 at around 6am to come forward. Police are asking anyone with information to get in touch with them online, citing incident 69 of November 2.
