Former Nationwide Insurance Executive Mark Thresher of Powell, Ohio has died. On Monday 28th October 2024, he died at the age of 67 leaving behind his beloved family, friends and colleagues who will for  miss him. The actual cause of Mark Thresher’s death has not been made known at the time this report was made.

Mark Thresher Education and Career

Mark Thresher was born to the late Norman Raymond and Carol Jean Thresher in Parma, Ohio, on December 23, 1956. Throughout his life, Mark exemplified the qualities of a loving husband, devoted son, caring father, and loyal friend. His legacy is one marked by unwavering dedication to his family, his profession, and his community.

Mark’s academic journey began at Otterbein University, where he earned a degree in accounting. This foundation paved the way for a distinguished career that spanned over three decades. After graduating, Mark joined KPMG Peat Marwick as an accountant, where he diligently worked for 18 years. His expertise and commitment to excellence led him to Nationwide Insurance, where he played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s financial strategies for 25 years. Mark rose to the esteemed position of Chief Financial Officer, a role he held for 12 years until his retirement.

Mark’s dedication to his alma mater, Otterbein University, was equally profound. He served on the university’s board for 21 years, during which he was chairman for eight years. His commitment to education and mentorship left a lasting impact on the university and its students. He leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire those who had the privilege to know him.

In addition to his wife, of 46 years, Deborah Scott Thresher, Mark is also survived by his two daughters Chelsea (Jeremy) Ross of Powell, Ohio and Kaylea (James) Swearingen of Mason, Ohio and his six grandchildren Parker Ross, Weston Ross, Corbin Ross, Caroline Ross, Ryland Ross and John Swearingen. He is also survived by his sister Karen (James) Fanta of Parma, Ohio and brother-in-law Alan (Judi) Scott of Bradford Pennsylvania, as well as many nieces, nephews and dear friends who were truly family

Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 pm on November 1, 2024 at Rutherford Funeral Home at Powell, 450 West Olentangy Street, Powell, Ohio. A funeral service will be held at Powell United Methodist Church on November 2, 2024 with visitation starting at 9:30 am and the service beginning at 10:30 am. The burial ceremony will be on November 7, 2024 at McKean Memorial Park in Lewis Run
Pennsylvania.
