Serenity Birdsong Death: Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) student has passed away following a deadly incident that happened on campus yesterday, Monday, the 28th of October 2024. The victim has been identified as Serenity Birdsong.
According to reports, Serenity Birdsong, a well-known student at the Middle Tennessee State University located in 1301 E Main St, Murfreesboro, TN 37132, United States died by suicide. Serenity Birdsong who was identified as a trans woman was found dead at James E. Walker Library.
What happened at MTSU?
Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) is closed on Tuesday following the death of a student in the university library on Monday. President Sidney McPhee announced the closure to allow the community time to grieve and seek support, emphasizing the availability of counseling services.
Essential services, including counseling, will remain open. A vigil, “Pray for MTSU,” is scheduled for Wednesday at 6 p.m. in front of the James E. Walker Library, aimed at fostering community support and reflection. Murfreesboro police are investigating the incident, which is being treated as a possible suicide.
MTSU’s counseling services will be available Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., with additional crisis support options provided for students and staff. Normal operations are set to resume on Wednesday.
